SGLT2i and GLP-1 RAs: Optimal Treatment for Kidney Disease, Diabetes, and Obesity
Background
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), and overweight/obesity frequently coexist, significantly increasing cardiovascular and renal risks for millions worldwide. Effective management requires therapies that address multiple facets of these interconnected conditions, yet clear guidance on their combined use is often lacking. This systematic review aims to clarify the optimal positioning and sequencing of Sodium-Glucose Co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RAs) for patients presenting with all three conditions.
