Young Plasma Transfusions Explored for Reversing Aging Markers in Humans
Background
Aging is a complex biological process with no known cure, characterized by various detrimental hallmarks such as epigenetic alterations, genomic instability, and cellular senescence. Extensive preclinical animal studies have previously indicated that plasma transfusions from young donors possess the potential to reverse numerous systemic age-related changes and mitigate age-related chronic diseases. This Phase I/II clinical trial (NCT03353597) was specifically designed to investigate if monthly young plasma transfusions can effectively reverse epigenetic and other biological markers of aging in older human subjects.
