Tirzepatide vs. Insulin Glargine: A Phase 3 Study for Type 2 Diabetes
Background
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar, often leading to serious complications, including increased cardiovascular risk. Current treatments aim to control blood glucose, but many patients still struggle to achieve optimal glycemic control and manage associated risks. This Phase 3 study, SURPASS-4, was designed to directly compare the efficacy and safety of once-weekly tirzepatide against once-daily insulin glargine in patients with type 2 diabetes and elevated cardiovascular risk.
